Rise for Climate

On the evening of September 7th at the Cardboard Cathedral, 350 Christchurch and Fossil Free Aoraki are hosting a forum of inspirational speakers from different sectors describing what they are doing to tackle climate change. Come along and hear from these climate action leaders in Canterbury and learn what you can do to help our country fight climate change! Come along from 7:30pm – 9:30pm to be inspired! Find out more: here.

As a follow up event to the forum, on Saturday 8 September, thousands of rallies will be held in cities and towns around the world to demand our local leaders commit to building a fossil free world that works for all of us. The Spring Climate Fair will be held in Victoria Square from 1pm-3pm to bring like-minded people together to “spreading seeds of hope” in tackling climate change. There will be live music, food stalls and informative stalls dedicated to groups who are focused on climate action and sustainability. Fossil Free Aoraki will be sharing their latest campaign – encouraging Fonterra to kick their coal habit. Click the link to the sign the petition https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/fonterra-no-new-coal-boilers. 350 Christchurch will have native seedlings to take home for a small koha, so you can tackle climate change by planting something small.

Bring along the whole family, learn something new and let’s celebrate the mighty power of plants! Join us as we hold our local leaders to account and demand that they walk the talk on climate action! RSVP here or visit the Facebook Event page.
